Nicole Ari Parker, an American actor, who has appeared in film and TV, and on stage is best known for portraying Teri Joseph, a flamboyant attorney featured in the show on Showtime called Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name following her marriage. Born and raised within Baltimore Maryland. In her early years as a child, she displayed the desire to act. She received the Top Actress Award at the Maryland High School Competition. The path to acting began when she joined the Washington Ballet Company as well as theatre. The family was born in Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria up to the age of seven. Contractor was well-informed about world travels and a variety of different cultures from a young age. She attended boarding school in London from seven to nine years old, then her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she spent the majority of her youth and early adulthood. Contractor had a great academic career at the University of Toronto Toronto while also training as the ballerina. She studied at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, an arts school that focuses on dance and theater. When she was 16 after a decade of years of dance Contractor decided to study acting professionally. Contractor landed her first role after a year of university. Her work was highly acclaimed throughout the 92 productions which she was a part of. She won an award in 2002, which was awarded to the Best Production of the Year from Canadian critics. The actor was invited to enroll in Stratford's conservatory program, where the top eight men and four women are accepted for a course lasting 20 weeks on the classical stage that she gladly accepted. Her place was guaranteed during the upcoming play as she was offered the role for the role of Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream.
